It's the coldest day of the year and....
We woke up with no heat! 
DS started to restle so I went over to him and his hands and body were so cold so I quickly scooped him up and looked at the thermostat and it was 57 degrees. I wrapped him in a blanket and laid him in the bed with us. So guess what we will be buying this weekend? A heater!

That happened to us the last cold spell. Woke up and it was 61 degrees, poor Maddie's fingers were popsicles.

I am so annoyed. We rent from DH's parents. They own the house. They are actually in Cancun right now but DH called his dad to let him know. DH got it working but he told his father that he knows he will be busy when he gets back and it can wait until next weekend. . Uhhh hello if this baby gets sick I am going to lose my mind. I emailed DH's dad telling him I think it needs to be fixed now.

Yeah it's the middle of dead winter, and it's freezing, you guys need heat.
Whether or not you rent from DH's parents or a total stranger, that is against the law=landlord/tenant law.
I would have DH call someone to come fix it permanently then send his parents the bill.
No heat is an emergency during the winter, not something that can wait.
Please stay warm
Def call someone to fix it!

Whether or not you rent from DH's parents or a total stranger, that is against the law=landlord/tenant law.
I would have DH call someone to come fix it permanently then send his parents the bill.
No heat is an emergency during the winter, not something that can wait.
Please stay warm

Me too! Your FIL will be grateful that it was taken care of. At what temp do the pipes freeze?

Me too! Your FIL will be grateful that it was taken care of. At what temp do the pipes freeze?
Please get that furnace checked!
I used to be a property manager for a luxury apartment community...
All you need is one solid day when the temp in the house goes below 55-60 and outside the temp is near freezing for pipes to freeze.
Everyone should keep an eye on this especially in this cold weather. IF at anytime you turn on the faucet and teh water doesn't come out or is slow to come out, open all the cabinets and call somebody, your pipes are frozen and they will burst when the temp rises. All your pipes should have insulation wrapped around them, especially ones coming in from the outside and on ground floors.
There is much more of a chance if your house is on a slab.
Please call someone, better during the day than at 2am when DH can't get it working again.
I will be thinking of you this weekend

I feel your pain! We've been having heat problems for the past week. Luckily, we had a new burner put in yesterday - no more heat problems for us!
