It's Show Time!! - Updated with questions
Went this AM and the follie that I had yesterday (16mm) was 21mm today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I am waiting for my blood work, and will trigger tonight and have an IUI Sunday, and possibly Saturday too if I have an LH surge. I am soooo excited!!!
However, how do I keep from being a bit pessimistic about the fact that a first IUI doesn't usually work?

Don't be pessimistic - I've heard of plenty that work the first time.

Stay positive - you cannot predict the future. My very good friend has a beautiful 5 yr old from first and only IUI (after waiting 4 years to do it, BAM first time). Lots of prayers here for you

Just got the call - I am going in tomorrow!! They told me to do the shot tonight, and if I collapse, then I don't need to come in on Sunday.
The nurse mentioned today that I might be surging on my own. She said if I was, I'd still take the shot, come in tomorrow for an IUI and possibly Sunday. Can I assume I am surging on my own adn am taking the ovidrel "just in case" (since it usually takes 36 hours). I got a voicemail, so I'm not sure exactly what my blood work said.
Also, what should I expect during/after my IUI? Pain/discomfort? Do I need to rest after?

No pain or discomfort with an IUI, it's much less uncomfortable and quicker than a PAP IMO. The only uncomfortable part I find is when they put in the speculum.

ETA: They may have you lay on the table for 10-15 minutes, but you can go about your day as your normally would after. When I was doing IUI's I went to work right from the RE's office.

Sounds a little strange that they don't know if you are surging - especially if you had bloodwork done. But in either case it can't hurt doing the ovidrel.
IUI is like a Pap smear in terms of discomfort. Nothing really to speak of. Usually they have you lay still for about 20 minutes afterward. You can go on with your day like normal.

I totally know what you are feeling... I just had my first IUI yesterday and am totally not getting my hopes up high becuase I have read so much about how they don't work the first time go round...
BUT... someone needs to fill that little percentage... WHY CAN'T IT BE US!
