Italy
My sister needs help planning her trip and thought I come here and ask.
She's planning for next year maybe March or April for 7 days. What are the must see cities. Can anyone share their itinerary and recommendations on hotels.
Thank you!!

Italy is so broad. What area? Florence? Rome? Venice? Amalfi coast?
I love love the amalfi coast (positano, sorrento, Capri). Also love Florence. Rome is great for the sites, but not my fav.

Her husband wants to do Venice and she would love Amalfi Coast. Is that possible in 7 days?

Totally doable. It's about an hour flight to Naples.

Sorrento with day trips to Capri and Naples. More laid back than Rome. Check out the Hilton Sorrento Palace. Walking distance to Sorrento main streets and stunning view of the Bay of Naples and volcano.

Venice is my favorite city in the world.
I also love Cinque Terre.
Its all wonderful. If she's never been before she should go to Rome. Trains are really great in Italy.

Re: Italy
I've been a few times. I loved Rome. I loved the art history part of it and did an amazing tour of the Vatican, Coleoseum and the Roman ruins were so cool.
Florence was ok. I wasn't too fond of it. Honestly, I thought a lot of it was centered around shops and I'm not a shopper.
Naples, we did wine and bike tours. It was fun.
Venice was really cool. Just the idea of gondolas and the sinking city was neat.
I was not a fan of Almafi coast. It was too rich for me and I wanted to do more than sit at a restaurant. Maybe I missed something to it....
Loved Pompei. That would be a must if I went back.
I'd go through a travel agent.

Re: Italy
I think Rome is just one of those must visit places. We were there about a year and half ago. It was spectacular, we really enjoyed getting lost and finding out way back to the hotel. Also, all the tourist places like the Vatican.
Edit to add: we stayed at Hotel 47 which was within walking distance to everything except the Vatican. We took a cab there, but walk to everything else. Oh, we also found this wonderful restaurant - Spirito De Santo, the food was amazing. We still talk about eating there.

Re: Italy
They should not miss Rome! such a beautiful and romantic city and the food is AMAZING.... everything... didn't have a single bad meal or snack in the full week I was there. I dream of going back there to eat almost daily lol plus you have so many historical monuments/museums/areas there that you can do a lot of fun sightseeing in rome.
