It just breaks my heart...
Okay since having my son this is something that I have had to try and deal with and honestly it is not getting any easier.
Every time we are in public people go gaga for my son. He is sweet and smiley and I kid you not every time we are in public at least one random person goes bananas over him. Sounds great, right? Nope, because there is my gorgeous, sweet, well-behaved 3 year old little girl being COMPLETELY ignored. I feel so bad for her. She is old enough to know they are only talking to her brother and it does not seem to bother her but it literally kills me. When the person walks away I always go on and on about how great she is. I tell her she is pretty, smart and well-behaved. She smiles and seems okay but I literally want to shake these people sometimes. Just say hi to the poor kid.
Does anyone else with 2 deal with this?
She is a sweet girl. Look at this face, how could you not pay attention to her.

Re: It just breaks my heart...
my kids are only 20 months apart. and it used to happen to me also. but i had the opposite problem everyone used to ohhh and ahhh over my dd (who is older), and completely ignore my son. I guess people think my dd is cuter or something. it used to piss me off. now that they are older it doesnt happen anymore.
ps your kids are equally GORGEOUS.

awe that is so sad! I am not sure if I have ever done that before, but I will definitely make sure I never do it again!
At least you are an observant mommy to praise her!

Aw S! I cannot believe that! I get it too....Paul will be in a cart and they go gaga for him, and Aly is walking and sometimes goes unnoticed!
Heck...my grandma even "favors" paul over Aly in certain ways.

DC are 3 years apart. We get the same thing. Everyone comments on DD (2), and not DS (5). He got more than his share at the same age, but of course, he doesn't remember that.....

Re: It just breaks my heart...
People can be so thoughtless! It has not happened to me, but it did happen frequently to my mother--with my sister and me. I was the 20 month older "ignored" one--brown hair, brown eyes, blah! My sister was an incredibly happy baby with blond hair and piercing blue eyes. People went nuts over her and my mom always felt as you did. In the end, it all worked out--people like ME much better now!
Oh, and yes, your DD is adorable!!!!

Re: It just breaks my heart...
I have seen this happen so many times to my neices. The older girl really draws a lot of attention, and people always goo goo ga ga over her, and the younger girl gets ignored.
I always make a point to give ALL the kids some compliments...poor kids

Re: It just breaks my heart...
We got that for years..my older daughter and the twins are 5 years apart. Even as they got older everyone would go gaga over them and completely ignore my eldest daughter. It continues now with people making a fuss over the twins and DS and ignoring Ariel...
You can totally tell when people have dealt with this type of thing on their own b/c those Mommies always make a fuss over ALL my children...
Im guilty of it in part I guess..even on here I dont really post pics of my eldest daughter. More so b/c she doesnt allow me to take any pics..but I still feel guilty of it. She's cute too..in a 14 teenager way..

LOVE IT!!!
I know that it is because he is a baby and she is shy and quiet. I know she is wonderful and as long as she knows it too I am fine. But man, sometimes I just want to smack people.
