Issue with earrings

Not sure if this belongs on here or health lol.

I have sensitive ear lobes and can only wear sterling silver or gold hoops or basically anything that doesn't pinch the lobe. Because of that, I never change my earrings unless I get another long term pair. I have a pair from Tiffany's that DH got me about 3 years ago that I wore every single day until I got a new pair from him for Christmas. I wore those for a couple of months and my ear lobes started getting irritated. I took them out, put bacitracin like I do when they get irritated, and I kept them off for a few weeks while they healed. I put back the ones from Tiffany that I never had a problem with and now I can't wear them for more than a couple of days without them getting irritated. What gives? Has anyone else had this problem?

My ears have been pierced for nearly 30 years and I've never been earring-less for this long. I miss my earrings! Help!

not sure what is going on there with the tiffany earrings, but whenever i get costume jewelry (i have sensitive earlobe too from the diff. metals) i put clear nailpolish on the posts and that seems to do the trick. got that advice from my mom!

i'm allergic to anything not gold in my ears. if i wear costume jewelry or silver in my ears they get irritated within a couple of hours and hurt! i wear my gold diamond studs every day and only switch it if i have an event to go to where i know i only have to wear the earrings for a short period of time.

I heard of a spray you can put on the backs of earrings to make them "gold-like"? i havent tried it tho.

From what I understand, your earlobes absorb finishes on earrings so depending on what they're made of and how they were made, you're taking that into your body.

I have the same issues, and find that non-dangle earrings or at least very very light ones are best for me. I clean them with peroxide periodically. I don't leave posts on them, and put them in a separate place in my jewelry box.

I have a bunch of hoops and other kinds too but it's a crap shoot on whether they're going to irritate me or not.

that happened to me a lot... then my ear loeb gets itchy... so annoying

put them in a little peroxide to clean them...

I'm going to try peroxide. I miss wearing earrings so much! I feel so naked without them! Thanks for the suggestions!

My mom uses stainless steel hoops, dangles etc. Sterling silver, nickel free etc. just wasn't cutting it for more than a day.

Maybe get them cleaned? There could be something on them irritating your ear.

I cleaned my earlobes and the earrings with peroxide and I'm now on day 3 of wearing them without irritation or the need to take them off!!
