Israel with a 7 month old
I feel like i'm probably crazy for planning a trip to Israel in May (DS will be almost 7 months).
I'm Israeli and most of my family lives there so we'd be going more for a visit than a true vacation.
Am I going to regret planning a 12 hour flight with a 7 month old?
Any tips or tricks i need to know about?

Re: Israel with a 7 month old
That's gonna be a long flight
Bottle or BFing for take off and landing helps with the ear pressure.
Lots of NEW toys - things they haven't seen before. Even little dollar store things. New = more interesting.
We did the lap infant thing, but for a flight that long I'd probably spring for the seat so you can bring the carseat on the plane.
We flew JetBlue with 7 month old twins to FL and purchased the seats with extra leg room. It was also nice to have the TVs to amuse them a bit. Not sure if they fly to Israel though?
Good luck!

Thanks for the tip about new toys i'll def have to remember that one! It's gonna be ... interesting, to say the least.
I'm totally stressing about it. No idea how to do any of this.
Does DS need his own passport? if not, how do i add him to my passport? and when i buy the flight tickets, if he'll be in our laps, is there an option for that?

Yes - he needs his own passport.
I really don't think you're going to want him on your lap for that long of a flight! You're going to literally have to hold him and at 7 months old, he's going to be squirmy and restless. Plus, you wont' be able to sleep at all if you're holding him. I'd definitely get him a seat.
We've flown cross-country CA to NY and have done both lap and own seat... much much prefer own seat and it's only 1/2 the time that your flight will be.

Yes he needs his own passport.
Before you buy his seat I would check with the airline if they have infant bassinets. When we flew to Ireland ds was 9 or 10 months and aerlingus had a bassinet for him so we didnt need a seat.
The bassinets is a box that sits on a tray in front of you and has pillows and a blanket underneath the baby. so they can sit or sleep in there to give your lap a rest and them a rest. The box is strapped in.
