Is this sciatica?

Sometimes when I go to move my right leg I get this sudden shooting pain down my butt and thigh and it feels like I may not be able to put weight on it.

It's sudden and goes away pretty quickly, but it happens a lot during the day.

Especially on stairs.

Is this sciatica??? Or something else completely?

Thanks. I've never felt anything like it before and wasn't sure.

Re: Is this sciatica?

I would say yes.

Seriously, don't let it lay you up, you have to work and walk through it. That's what my dr told me and it worked. I was hobbling around the neighborhood, dragging around this dead weight of a leg...it was gone.

good luck!

I've been having something similar, but it's a steady pain and it's worse when I'm walking.

I have the same thing. It almost cripples me. Its posterior pelvic pain or the baby just hanging out on the nerve that travels down my but on the left down my leg. Walking though it does not help. Why torture myself. I actually lay down or get on all fours to get the baby to move around and that helps it go away faster.

From Babycenter.com
"Even more pregnant women have posterior pelvic pain, which is felt lower on your body than lumbar pain. You may feel it deep inside the buttocks, on one or both sides or in the back of your thighs. It may be triggered by activities such as walking, climbing stairs, getting in and out of a tub or a low chair, rolling over in bed, or twisting and lifting."

Re: Is this sciatica?

Thanks girls.

It's pretty painful, but like I said, it's pretty quick to go away too.

So I push through it for now. When I'm bigger it may get more difficult though!!
