Is this pretty "normal" for a 2yr old?
An acquaintance of mine has a 2yr old
My DD is almost 10 months old
While we were talking, her 2 yr old kept trying to hit my DD, so her mom said, "No, that's bad touching" Then her daughter repeated it, trying to kick DD too...and her mom said the same thing, and told her DD to look at her, which her daughter ignored...and then her mom tickled her stomach and they both laughed
Then only like 15 mins later her dd pulled my DD's hair
I guess I'm just curious if this is "normal" for a 2yr old...to keep at it, after her mom said no...and I guess I was expecting her mom to say more than just no....but my DD isn't 2 yet so I don't know if this is the "norm"
Totally curious...

Yes, its normal. They don't like to listen and she was probably jealous that there was another kid around
ETA-As for her discipline methods, I don't necessarily agree, but to each his/her own

Re: Is this pretty "normal" for a 2yr old?
It doesn't sound like her mother was really that serious with her, which is why she kept going at it.
I have zero tolerance when Jack goes at another child. Hits, pushes, etc. He does it, he gets scolded. He needs to know that it's not appropriate to touch other kids. If he does it two times, he gets pulled to the side and a conversation is had. If he does it again, we are out of there - no matter where we are.
It is not abnormal that the child did it a few times though.

I agree...it also doesn't help that her mom tickled and laughed with her...sorry but that's confusing...I'd keep up the behavior too if it meant I could get my belly tickled

agreed, the behavior is normal, but if it were me, there would be more serious consequences.

i agree..they def test their limitations...not abnormal to do it again and again..but I also agree that the mother should have taken a more serious approach!

Re: Is this pretty "normal" for a 2yr old?
Ryan is not quite 2 yet. But it amazes me at how already he can turn on and off his listening ears. Sometimes I only have to tell him once and other times I have to tell him 45 million times before he listens.
However, if he was misbehaving in a way that was causing someone else harm after 2 warnings he'd get a time out.

Normal, yes. Acceptable - no. I would have made sure the behavior stopped.
