Is this normal? Re: feeding

DD is just over two weeks old. I know it's normal for her to have brief periods of wakefulness and sleep for most of the day, but I don't know if I should be concerned about her feeding. She wakes up screaming to eat--like it's inconsolable until the bottle is in her mouth. I try to comfort her in other ways before giving her the bottle (because I'm afraid of overfeeding her). I check her diaper, try to burp her, and hold her before feeding--sometimes the pacifier will calm her for a little while, but almost always her episodes end in hysterical tears for food. Once she eats, she is quiet and happy, but she regularly falls asleep while eating and wake up looking for more (She'll take like an ounce or two at a time, and looks to eat every 2.5- 3 hrs) She was a big baby at birth (9lbs8oz) and her formula intake ranges anywhere from 2.5 oz- 5 oz at a feeding. I just don't know if this is normal. Should I call the pediatrician? Any advice on trying something else to stretch her feedings, or should I just continue on the current course. Too early for a schedule?

Thanks for reading. Sorry this was so long!

Re: Is this normal? Re: feeding

schedules are hard when they are that young... especially when they go through growth spurts... i am a true believer in feeding on demand when they are that young

Sounds normal to me...my DD screamed bloody murder when she woke up (at that age) until the bottle was in her mouth...and it would take us like 2 mins to get it to her, but she'd scream like she was being attacked....and don't worry about schedule...way early
