Is this crawling
Ok, so maybe a dumb question.
When do you consider an official milestone? DD seems to get to things somewhat gradually (other than rolling over which was pretty clear)
She loves to roll onto her belly, pull herself into a full pushup position and then scoot backwards. We put her on a blanket on the floor and she will move completely off of it. She also wiggles and rotates around in a circle to reach after toys, etc.
Is this crawling? She can't seem to go forward yet, lol. And she doesn't totally have her legs up in a crawling motion, they kind of drag and let her upper body do all the work.

Give it another week or two. She's almost there! I don't really know when to say it's "official" but if asked "when did they start to crawl" I would just say "around (how every many months)"

Re: Is this crawling
I didn't consider it "real" crawling until my DC actually crawled forward. My LO was on all fours, rocking back and forth, going backwards for a few weeks before she made it forward. When she went forward is when I recorded it as "officially crawling!"

That's what my DS does and my mother calls it creeping. He's been doing it for a couple months but refuses to go forward. I figure for him he may just skip crawling all together and move on to walking, lol

I've heard from a lot of friends that some babies skip crawling. One of my friends just did butt scooting while sitting down and then started walking.
I think she is picking this up at daycare - a few crawlers there and I think she is jealous

DD is doing the same thing. She looks like she's doing that breakdancing spin move lol.
I never crawled forwards. I went from crawling backwards to walking.

Re: Is this crawling
I don't consider that crawling. My one DD will crawl fwd several consecutive crawls. My other DD will do a crawl move, sit up, lay down, roll. I don't consider that crawling yet. But some babies do that then just walk.

That's the start of it. They usually go backwards first. They have to trust themselves enough to put their weight forward and know they won't get hurt.

Re: Is this crawling
This is def the start of it. DS did this for a week or so, then one day just took off! Now all I do is chase after him.

This -- DS is in the stage where he is on all fours, rocks, falls, moves backwards, etc. As soon as he moves forward I will record it and call it officially crawling!
