Is $1300 a good price for 48 sq yards of wall to wall berber carpeting? With installation, padding and inclucing stairs.

Re: is this a good price for wall to wall carpeting
I can't say anything about the price because I don't know what the quality is of the berber, but I just wanted to tell you berber in general, on stairs is not really a great idea. A few reasons... 1- if you wear heels, you can get them stuck easily if the heel gets scuffed from walking on pavement. 2- berber gets crushed easy, and looks worn quick in high traffic areas. Stairs are high traffic areas. (a lot of carpet stores will tell you berber is good in high traffic areas, but they are wrong)
3-If it is in fact Berber, and 100% wool, I would highly discourage you from installing this on stairs. It is very flammable, and in case of a fire, it could cause you trouble when exiting your home. The carpet actually goes up in flames (sorry to be so scary) where as a synteic blend, would melt down into a plastic material and you could safely exit (of course the fumes are toxic, but you would still be able to get out). IMO this is a very important factor.
And just so you know Berber is an actual brand. A lot of times carpet companies will sell you a lower grade product manufactured by another company but refer to it as berber, because of its construction which is the same as actual berber but its not the same product, often a lesser quality.
