Is there such a thing as PRE-partum depression?

I am in such a funk today. I feel sad, like I want to cry. Maybe it's because we had a long day yesterday then I didn't sleep well last night. We also got some not so good news about a friend of urs who is preggo also. She found out the baby has club feet at her level 2. I am sad for her and I am starting to worry. I have my level 2 on Saturday and am afraid that they'll see something. It sounds so irrational, but for the most part I have had a great pregnancy and feel that maybe it is too good to be true. I just feel like staying in bed and having a mental health day.

sorry this is so long, I appreciate you listening. I just had to get it out.

So sorry about your friend. I am not pregnant yet so I'm no authority but I think it's perfectly normal to have a not-so-great day especially after that type of news.

Here are a few Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon for you!

Also, do not worry about your baby. I am sure everything is perfectly normal. If you can, do stay home and rest today.

I had a few depressed days in the earlier stages of my pregnancy. I found crying made me feel better. And i knew i was crazy for being upset, but I could not control it. Totally normal. Hang in there. Chat Icon

I find myself feeling oddly low sometimes, and while I am happy to be pregnant I've been too anxious and overwhelmed at this point to really enjoy it. And that's despite the fact that I've been feeling mostly good, physically.

I think with all the hormonal things it's totally normal to be up and down emotionally. I remember one of my friends, who wanted to be a mom more than anyone I know, went through a short bout of depression during her pregnancy.

As for your friend, there are so many methods for improving clubbed feet. I hope everything works out for them. I know someone whose son had a club foot and even though the process was difficult he's doing great now.

This is certainly not uncommon and you definately are not the only one. I just posted the other day about not wanting to see anyone or hang out with people. I have become such a loner lately. Chat Icon

I feel the same way at times. I could cry all day or just be ridiculously mean to my DH. Know that you're not alone. The hormones can drive us crazy.Chat Icon

It's your hormones. Some days I feel happy, other days I feel sad like I just want to cry. I actually did the other day for no reason. DH didn't know what to do. LOLOL. Sometimes I get extremely irritable and angry. It comes with the territory.

Re: Is there such a thing as PRE-partum depression?

I am all over the place. I haven't cried in a few weeks, but I did my fair share.

Some days I feel so unattached to the baby. I try and stay active and keep my mind going...once I have a spare moment to think and take it all in, I get so overwhelmed.

It is such new and uncharted territory.
