Is there anything I can do to ease her cough?
My poor DD has been so sick all weekend and it only slowly getting better but she still has a NASTY cough. She gets into these fits sometimes which keeps her from sleeping. I was wondering if anyone had any tricks I could try to help her. I'm sure her throat must be hurting because of it, I know mine would be.

Humidifier, lots of liquids. We give her tylenol or motrin sometimes too, for pain.

I don't know how old she is and if she's ready to have it, but I usually give my DS a small spoonful of honey and it seems to ease his coughing a bit and I can definitely tell it helps his throat cause he doesn't get whiney or cry right after a coughing fit.

Cool mist humidifier. Dry heat is the worst for it, so turn your heat down a bit - especially at night.
If it turns into a barky/seal cough, you've got croup.
One thing I used to do is do back & chest pats to help it along.
If it's an extended cough, you may want to see your pediatrican. Bronchitis is going around.

If you haven't already done so, I would call your ped. and see what he/she has to say...at least let them listen...
I always use a vaporizer with a bad cough...

Thanks Ladies. I have already brought her to her Ped. They could not say exactly what it is she has but she has been sick for a little while now. She had 103 fever for a few days, major congestion, runny nose, sneezing, and the coughing. The Ped. said her lungs sounded clear though. They gave her antibiotics but the only thing that has gotten better is the fever. She is still struggling with everything else. She is 11 months. When are you allowed to give honey?

Has she finished the round of antibiotics yet?
One time DD had a cough that lasted forever...they finally gave her anitibiotics...I thought they weren't working, but on the last dose (after 10 days), BAM, the cough was gone!!!
I don't know about honey...I would ask your ped. about that one...I know they recommend against it for a while, but not sure up until what age...

I'm not sure if it helps but the smell is soothing, the wall plug-ins. I have a Vicks plug-in but I think Pedia-care has one too.

No she is not done with the antibiotics yet. Today is the 4th day she has been on them. I was starting to get a little worried but maybe, like your DD, it will work right at the end. The only thing that it has helped with is the fever. I just feel so bad since she cant sleep because she is constantly coughing. Thanks for your help!

I don't think you can do honey until she is at least a year, and then I would call your ped first. I hope she gets better
