Is there any way to say this politely?
Preface: My MIL is really generous with me for holidays and birthdays and I really, really appreciate it (she always gets me stuff that I like).
But for birthdays, in addition to a gift, she sends me flowers. I hate it when people send me flowers, especially since I only like three kinds of them and I forget to take care of them - I don't want her to waste the money.
Is there ANY way to tell her that the gift is enough?
I know, I know, what a problem

Let's just say Anthony Michael Hall was sending the flowers ... would you feel differently?

Is there anything else that you need to share with me regarding AMH? Dried flowers hidden away somewhere perhaps?

Re: Is there any way to say this politely?
It's totally not a 'real' problem, I know. I just don't want her to waste her $$ like that on me.

Just tell her that! Tell her that you love them, but that you don't take care of them and you don't want her to waste her money.

I say "suck it up" Give the flowers away, I think it's better than hurting her feelings, or...throw them out as soon as you get them.

I lack common sense sometimes.
And my living room smells lovely.
Thanks all

Don't see it as a waste of money - because if it makes her happy to give them to you, then it's not wasted.
Or send them to me and say they're from Johnny Depp!
