Is there any kind of train museum on LI?

DS loves trains and I was wondering if we had anything like that around here.

In NJ there is Northlanz wich is a great model train museum - it is on the way to Sesame Place.

There is the Long Island Steamers in Yaphank. It's not a museum, but your son could ride on the train around the park.

There is also the Wrong Island Railroad, I think it's in Ronkonkoma. They have mini electric trains set up.

I forgot about the place in Yaphank. I remember going there when I was younger.

There's a very small one on Wantagh Ave that's open Sundays 2-4 in the summer. It's got an old train car to walk through and the old station that has some exhibits.

not sure how great it is but there is one in riverhead and also greenport.

I read somewhere that there is one at south haven park in shirley/brookhaven but couldn't find exact info.

Not sure if its considered a "museum" , but there is a train store in Ronkonkoma called "The Wrong Island Railroad"
