Is there a problem with being "Tiny" at 6 months

Last nite at work this girl seemed so shocked that i was 6 months pregnant and barely showing. She said im soo tiny "are you sure the baby is growing" I responded by saying yeah thanks thats comforting to say to someone. I swear people just dont get it sometimes. They either say your huge or your small. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Is there a problem with being "Tiny" at 6 months

one of my friends didn't show until she was in her seventh month. i remember seeing her the weekend before she told people and thinking how tiny and good she looked - and that i should get my a$$ to the gym too. next thing i know we're getting a phone call letting us know she's seven months pregnant - and now her daughter's fine. people all show differently - just ignore all the stupid comments.

(p.s. - i like your reply. i wish i had the nerve to say that to some of the "well intentioned" people i've talked to.)

Re: Is there a problem with being "Tiny" at 6 months

Lots of women carry small.

As long as your OB says the baby is OK and developping normaly, nothing to worry about or people's comments.

Some people really have their heads up their arses! Chat Icon Being tiny is FINE! I carried very small and on the day I delivered I had only gained 18 pounds. DS was 8 pounds and the nose and healthy as could be! Take it as a blessing that your body takes well to pregnancy and you won't have to lose so much after the baby arrives.

Re: Is there a problem with being "Tiny" at 6 months

I am carrying very small and my DH is always asking the Dr. If the baby is OK, and the Dr keeps assuring him she's fine, so as long as ur doc is OK, ur good...I even got yesterday at 32 weeks, "wow, you don't look like you're due in December, you're tiny." from some random person in a salon, meanwhile I feel like I'm huuuuuuugeChat Icon Everyone carries differently!!!!

Re: Is there a problem with being "Tiny" at 6 months

I get this all the time too.... Honestly, I love being called tiny in any venue-- so, I'll take it!!

No one has made any insensitive comments to me though-- if anything, it has been dealing with my own insecurities of wondering if everything is ok. But, I know it is-- so, I have stopped worrying about it.

Re: Is there a problem with being "Tiny" at 6 months

I didn't really obviously start showing until I was about 7.5 months. I am now almost 37w and have gained 11lbs and my baby is apparently very big and healthy based on my growth sonos. Everyone carries differently! I have a long torso and am convinced the baby stretched himself out long ways before pushing my belly out.

Re: Is there a problem with being "Tiny" at 6 months

first of all, that is a totally inappropriate thing for that girl to have said
I would have said, "Yes, my dr. is quite sure of that"

anyway, my mom gained 12 lbs with me and i was a healthy 6 lb. baby

there is NOTHING wrong with being tiny as long as the baby is growing the way s/he should

dont worry

Re: Is there a problem with being "Tiny" at 6 months

i didnt show until my 7th month. i was very tiny though out my whole pregnancy. I used to ask my doctor at every visit "are you sure im big enough", and he always said yes. My dd was born at 9lbs. So the size or your belly really doesnt determine anything. You are fine. Chat Icon

Re: Is there a problem with being "Tiny" at 6 months

I am still wearing my regular clothes at 23 weeks and have a tiny belly. I haven't gained any weight but the doctor doesn't seem concerned and said that everything is fine.

To me, the longer I can wear my regular clothes the happier I am.

Re: Is there a problem with being "Tiny" at 6 months

I am 6 1/2 months pregnant. I was at a wedding last night and some people did not realize I was pregnant until the end of the night. I am probably carrying on the smaller side, but whatever.

People always comment.Chat Icon

unfortunately some people tend to say stupid things. I'm sorry she said that. With my 1st I wore regular clothes until my 7th month. I had the tiniest bump at 6 months. I wouldn't worry, I'd enjoy it to it's fullest!!!!!Chat Icon

Don't stress it. With both my pregnancies, I didn't look pregnant for a long time. With my first I gained 21 pounds and had a 9 7 baby. This time around I gained 14 lbs and the baby was 9 1. Everyone was commenting on how small I was, but I had huge, healthy babies. Don't listen to people!

Re: Is there a problem with being "Tiny" at 6 months

I am 18.5 weeks and am not showing. At first I felt self conscious of my lack of baby belly but my obgyn informed me that the baby is growing and is the same size as other mommies with larger bellies. She made me feel better by telling me many women would prefer to have the smaller belly.

As long as the baby is growing and everything is fine w/ him/her I'd MUCH rather be tiny !!! - So I'm going to hope my 'non belly' lasts as long as possible !!

Re: Is there a problem with being "Tiny" at 6 months

I'm 25 weeks today, and while I feel huge, I've been told I'm carring small (either that, or people are just being "nice" to me so I don't feel bad! Chat Icon ) My SIL is also 25 weeks, and she is barely showing. If you were to stand us next to eachother, you'd think I was further along than she is.
