Is there a list?

Is there a list somewhere that shows all the things needed and the overall process of buying a house in NY? (ie: accepted offer, inspection, signing contracts, obtain commitment letter, etc...)

I am trying to move the process along to close asap.. but not sure if I'm doing everything I'm supposed to be.

There's no actual list, per se. If you're working with a Realtor, tell them what's on your mind. They should be walking you though the entire process.

-Accepted offer.
-Engineer and any other inspections you want to do (radon, lead paint, etc.)
-Any final negotiations required resulting from the inspections
-Buyer reviews and signs contracts and returns them to the seller
-Seller reviews and signs contracts
-When in full contract, buyer notifies the mortgage co immediately to get the mortgage rolling.
Things to be done while in contract: survey if needed, termite inspection if needed, repairs agreed to by the seller if any, resolve C.O. issues if any.

And the list goes on. If you're not working with a Realtor, lean on your attorney to have him/her help you understand the process.

It's not rocket science but there are things that need to be done that can be costly if they're not done when needed.
