Is the tap water safe to drink?
After hearing all the stuff before the storm about stocking up on bottled water in case the water gets contaminated, I was wondering- how do we know if our tap water is safe to drink now?

I heard on the radio that there were a few areas where it's not safe to drink. Most of Suffolk County is ok.
I heard it on WALK, maybe they have the info on their website.

It is not safe for drinking/showering in Long Beach and maybe Bayville too.
West of the meadowbrook and south of the LIE there is a conserve water warning. A sewage plant is damaged. Mangano said to conserve water and that you might see sewage percolating from the sewars, manhold and some kind of drain in your basement?? He said not to touch it and the hospitals and doctors in the area have been alerted what kinds of diseases people might get from coming into contact with it so they can look for it when people come in sick.
This was on the radio/News 12 when he was interview Tuesday night.
Othere than that, I haven't heard anything else.
ETA: Newsday just said that the sewage plant in question (Bay Park sewage plant) is now on fire as of this morning.  I wonder if this will affect drinking water?

I heard Mangano said it's not safe to drink water from Long Beach and from another area...it was a town I've never heard of, and it started with an "M"...but I cannot remain the anme.

OK I checked the Suffolk Water Authority site last night and they had no info
Newsday today mentioned Long Beach not being safe but that was it.
