Is someone stealing my identity?

I got a voicemail today from the salesperson at the company where I buy my business's office machines. He said that he heard that I am in the market for a new copier and he wants to talk b/c he does not want to lose my business. I am NOT in the market for a new copier. Then I got calls from 3 more companies that wanted to respond to my "need for a copier."

I finally spoke to the company that I normally do business with. Someone filled out a form on a website called buyerzone.com, using my business information and a gmail account that has my name in it. I do not have a gmail account. The companies pay for the leads that buyerzone.com generates, so it is possible that someone is trying to drive up the number of leads. The owner of the office machine company thinks that a competitor is behind this. I do not know what to think. My husband handles office equipment purchases for me but he did not inquire about a copier, and I will be shocked if my assistant made such an inquiry. I would not register on such a site because I hate sales calls!!!! I would have called this company direct and if I wanted to shop around, I'd look online and then call some other reputable companies!

The person from my usual company said that he is going to tell buyerzone and they might call me. What else should I do to get to the bottom of this?

Pull your credit report and see if there is anything fishy on their...and I would contact your CC companies to tell them there is a possibility someone may have stolen your identity and your looking into it.
