I usually do a rice or oatmeal mix with a half jar of fruit or veg. The other half honestly goes bad after 24 hours? Or just a ploy? Seems like it should be 2 or 3 days...

It's 2 or 3 days if you haven't put a dirty spoon into it. If you take half the jar and put it in a bowl, and the other half is untouched, in the jar, in the fridge, it's 3 days.

If the baby's saliva touched the food (as in, you fed her out of the jar and then put the jar back in the fridge), that saliva has bacteria in it and the food won't be good for very long.

This is what it says on the jars of food I have bought. I've never seen anything telling me 24 hours.

I just looked at mine and realized that while the plum baby says 24 hours the gerber organic says 2 says. Hmm.

I looked at the different kinds in the store and I know that Earth's Best jarred foods (stage 1 at least) say "once opened use within 3 days"

I really don't know. I've noticed that on jarred foods it seems to say 2-3 days but on the pouches it usually says 24 hours. I don't really know why they'd be different. I'm too afraid to risk it, not worth it for me.
