Is it wrong that I got my first unsolicitated, negative comments from a stranger and it kinda made my day???
I know... so strange... but I've been waiting for my moment of inapproriapte comments from anyone and finally today was the day!!!
Here's how it goes, I'll set the scene first...
I'm popped into Stop & Shop on my way home to grab a few things. As I'm checking out (I KNEW I should've gone to self-check) the check-out girl engages me in a conversation....
S&S Girl: Are you pregnant?
Me: Yes.
S&S Girl: When are you due?
Me: August.
S&S Girl: Oh, my sister just had a baby about 4 days ago...
Me: Oh that's awesome... congratulations.
**Seems OK, right?
S&S Girl: It was her 4th... she's totally done.
Me: Yeah, I think I'd be done after 4 too.
S&S Girl: She had a horrible delivery. Absolutely terrible.
Me: Yikes! Don't scare the pregnant lady (referring to myself).
S&S Girl: Oh, is this your first?
Me: Yes.
S&S Girl: Oh, well, it went really bad. I won't go into details, but it was horrific... worst ever.
Me: <<silence>>
S&S Girl: Where are you delivering?
Me: South Side in Bay Shore.
S&S Girl: I hate that hospital... it's terrible there.
Me: Again, don't scare the pregant lady.
S&S Girl: Well, I delivered at Stony Brook and hated it there too.... but I just really don't like South Side.
Me: You have a good night << Said as I promptly walk away >>.

HA!! It only took until the 3rd trimester to get into the "club"! LOL
This azzhat didn't freak me out at all... I just couldn' tthink of anything to say in response other than she shouldn't scare pregnant women... lol!

yay! welcome to the club- I am pretty sure when I am on maternity leave I am gonna write a book about the stupid things people have said to me and my responses back- and I'm only 16 weeks
btw- your responses were good, they will get better every time lol

What an idiot....people just really don't know when enough is enough sometimes....
Just an FYI....I actually work at southside and our L&D is really nice!! I almost wish I lived closer because I wouldn't mind delivering there...but i'm about 30 minutes from the hospital so unless something happens while i'm at work....it will be St. Catherines for me!! You don't have anything to worry about....
