Is it true?
Once you are out of your first trimester, the risk of m/c goes down significantly? DH & I had a m/c in september, and any little cramp or pain gets me nervous. Is this normal? I am 10wks now, we heard the heartbeat, which is a great start. Ladies, please ease my mind!!!

Re: Is it true?
After my little scare, I researched the topic.... it does become very low after the first trimester....
BUT, the risk is also decreasing throughout the first trimester. The first couple weeks (before the BFP) have a very high miscarriage rate, and it tapers down exponentially as the weeks progress..... so the risk of miscarriage at week 8 isn't THAT much higher than at week 12 (maybe 8% vs 5%?)
check out the chart on page 6 of this paper

Re: Is it true?
Yes that is true. It also decreases after you see the heartbeat. Most miscarriages occur at the very beginning.

Re: Is it true?
Thanks ladies. New to these boards...been lurking for the past month. We saw the heartbeat last week and are scheduled for an ultrascreen next week. Just very cautious after having a m/c not too long ago, so thank you for all your help!
