Is it possible NOT to lose your mucus plug but go into labor?
Sorry if this is a stupid question but is losing your mucus plug a must before going into labor or can you go into labor without losing it?

Re: Is it possible NOT to lose your mucus plug but go into labor?
I think the cervix opening is what causes the mucus plug to come out. With ds i never noticed losing mine and I was definitely checking!

It is definitely possible! I lost mine in HUGE chunks over several days but just about every BTDT mom I know in real life had no recollection of losing theirs before labor so I was actually in the minority.

With my DS, I had contractions all day. Went to the hospital, and lost my mucous plug during an internal! Poor dr... gross right?

I never lost mine. My water broke and that's what started my labor.

I lost mine DURING labor. Like with every contraction, huge chunks came out. It was gross. Within a few hours, DD was here.
Sending you labor dust!!!

We went to childbirth class today, and were told that many women don't even know that they lost their mucus plugs, because they come out so gradually.

I never lost mine with DD - I was 9 days late. It came out with my bloody show when I was about 5cm dilated and well into labor.

Re: Is it possible NOT to lose your mucus plug but go into labor?
I'm another person that didn't know that I lost it with my first. In retrospect, I think that I slowly lost it the week prior to delivery, but I could be wrong about that

I always looked for mine and never saw it. My water didn't break either, they broke it at the hospital when I went into labor. Sounded possible Labor vibes!!

My first pregnancy, I lost mine 8 days before arrived at 39 weeks, 3 days.

Re: Is it possible NOT to lose your mucus plug but go into labor?
I never lost mine (or didn't notice). I just woke up one morning with contractions. Nothing happened before that. All day long, I never lost it either. So, yes, it's possible!
