Miralax in the first trimester? I am so constipated and I need to take something!

My doctor gave me samples of Miralax to take when I complained about that - but I think I was already in my second trimester. Maybe just give the office a call and ask.

I just saw a GI today b/c I've been having horrible lower abdominal pains (not related to the preg) that wake me up at night. I have a history of IBS so he thinks its just extreme constipation (I can't poop at all) and maybe some hormone effect.
He told me to drink Milk of Magnesia to "clean myself out" then Colace to maintain softer stools.
I used to take Miralax all the time for my IBS but I don't think its great to take while pregnant b/c its a lot of chemicals.
ETA: I just googled and Miralax is pregnancy category C so I def wouldn't take it

Thanks for your responses! I will give my doc a call. I have a history of constipation (pre-pregnancy) so I know its gonna get bad
