Is it normal to bleed after internal?
I had my first internal yesterday (I'm 35.5 weeks) and I've been bleeding ever since. It's basically when I wipe the TP has blood on it. Has anyone had this?
I also had a non stress test yesterday b/c the baby's heartrate was low and they saw I was having Braxton Hicks contractions but they said everything is fine. I'm just worried about the blood.

Re: Is it normal to bleed after internal?
I would call your doctor asap and let them know. However after doing so I'm sure they will assure you it is ok. It happened to me at my 38 week internal. right aftewr that I had the baby Totally not saying you will, just that it was very little for me that day here and there and I was assured it was ok. But, I think for precaution you should call and let them know, also for your peace of mind.

I agree - call your doctor just to make sure but I think it's okay since it seems to be a little when you wipe. Possibly just something to do with the exam and not the baby but definitely check.

I've heard that internals can cause you to bleed after - but check with your doctor for peace of mind.

Re: Is it normal to bleed after internal?
Very normal. My doctor told me not to be alarmed if I bled. I bled a lot more than I thought I would and had terrible cramps.
This is what I read online too.. Any time that you have an internal examination you may experience a small amount of bleeding for a few days. Bright red bleeding or bleeding like a period is not normal and should be evaluated.

Re: Is it normal to bleed after internal?
Karen, I don't know about this much, you are far ahead of me but, could it be also the fact that you are on the blood thinners? Maybe that had a role, there may be extra blood going around the cervix?
I am sure it's normal as others have said, but just call the Dr. anyway.
Gosh, you are getting so close!!!!!!!

Re: Is it normal to bleed after internal?
I just called the doctors office. They said it is normal to bleed but if it gets heavier and red to go to Labor and Delivery.

I just called the doctors office. They said it is normal to bleed but if it gets heavier and red to go to Labor and Delivery. This is exactly what they told me. A small amount when you wipe is common, but if it starts to bleed like AF to go to L & D.
