Is It Me?
Someone in my company, who I thought was a 'friend' got let go of her position b/f the holidays. She has been the 'breadwinner' in the family. She met w/ my boss for an interview, but b/c of office politics my boss didn't hire her. There was another opening in our area, but not under my boss, and it was suggested that this person might be a good candidate. I call the 'friend' tell her of the position, suggest she call the hiring person and email him a resume. She gets an interview. She comes back for the 2nd interview. She started the job yesterday....In the meantime, she never called to say 'she got the job' or 'thank you' or any updates. Mind you, I had lunch w/ her on the day of her wnd set of interviews. I don't get it. This person came to my wedding...called me a handful of times trying to connect w/ my boss about her status w/ the interview she had w/ him (prior to this other interview)...I said to her yesterday, "I can't believe you didn't even call and let me know you got the job!!!"... Her response was "my child was sick, my day care is not firmed up".... this was 3 weeks--she couldn't make a call/leave a voice mail/??? then..
on Sunday after the snowfall, after shoveling our driveway and patio my DH shoveled the neighbors driveway and walkway....2 older women live in the house--and not a thank you!!! No call, nothing...
What is it w/ people? You try to help others and there is no respect shown. I am really amazed!
and now this work person sits in the cube NEXT to me!!! LOL! and wants to go to lunch...yeah, i am re-evaluating this 'so-called' friendship!

No, it's not you. People have forgotten how to be polite. You certainly deserved AT LEAST a phone call from your friend and the neighbors, don't even get me started because I have one too!

i don't understand it either!  some "friend" she is!! 
i just baked a cake for my neighbor who cleared our driveway with his snowblower! 
of course we thanked him on the spot for doing that for us, but a little gesture like baking a cake was just something 'extra' i wanted to do for them.

Well, DH has no snowblower, he actually used the shovel...and he said 'no' ' i am not shoveling their snow' and I said, 'hon, pls help the neighbors, they are 2 older women who won't be shoveling themselves out---and it has been every evening and he looks out the window and says ' no thank you YET'....

That's so rude. I think sometimes older people, especially women, think they are entitled to certain treatment. Our neighbor is like that.

I dont get people sometimes - I opened the door for 9 people the other day - as they were walking out of the DMV and not one of them said Thank you....I was about ready to say YOUR Welcome but I didnt

I agree that girl should TAKE you to lunch....When People have helpeed me get a new job, I always gave them gift certificates to their favorite restuarant as a thank you

Sandra I know how you feel...sometimes poeple just ****.
Our neighboor snow blowed us the other day cuz the belt on our snow blower broke - but he and DH do this all the time, whoever is out first does the other's sidewalk & such. So anyway, even tho DH did his sidewalk later in the day after another 2", I brought them cookies to thank them for doing the heavy blowing.
I don't get why people have such a hard time thanking and appreciating kindnesses....
