Is he getting enough per feeding?

Obviously Connor is growing and getting enough throughout the day. But at night, well at least the last 2 nights nothing makes him happy except to nurse. It's like I don't have enough milk and he just tries and tries? He doesn't do this during the day at all so that's why I'm not sure if this is why?

I thought about supplementing with formula in a bottle just 1 time a night to see if it helps him sleep, but I don't know if that's the problem? I also didn't want to introduce a bottle until he was at least 4 weeks old. He's not even 3 yet.

What do you think? Thanks!

Re: Is he getting enough per feeding?

I tm so glad to read your posts as it seems we are having the same issues...I forget that newborns can be fussy creatures! Drew was nursing all the time at night so I decided to give him breastmilk in a bottle at night hoping he would sleep for longer stretches. He takes the whole three oz but then wants to nurse afterward to get to sleep. I actually take him in bed with me and we both wind up falling asleep. They must just want to be close to their mommies right now. We might as well take advantage of it while we can!

I had this same problem too with DD at about 2-2.5wks. I finally tried giving her a pacifier. It took a little while for her to take it but once she did she sucked herself right to sleep. I think they just need to suck on something at night to soothe themselves to sleep.

I use to BF my son during the day and at the last feeding I gave him formula. He slept longer because of it, I think he was more satisfied.

Re: Is he getting enough per feeding?

My DD was great at cluster feeding at night. This happened for the first 6 weeks. Although very frustrating, I got through it. Make sure you have the phone, the remote, and a good snack near by.
