What about atlantis. We have been there twice (however PRE kids) ad stayed in the Reef hotel there and it was sooo nice. I liked that it wasn't in the chaos of the main part but everything was available. We stayed there the summer before DD was born so it's a good 4 years but we loved it. It can be pricey though but from reason at the other places you are looking at I'm sure it's not bad. The Cove looked even more amazing but i am not sure if kids are allowed in that part.
NowTHIS place I would pay that kind of money for This is more the standard you should be getting for those prices. LOVED it.

Have you looked into Club Med?
Club Med actually seems like a pretty good compromise. Can't beat the kid activities.
It isn't the Caribbean but I'm looking into Little Palm Island in the Keys. One of my friends highly recommended it. DH and I have never been to the keys.
i've stayed at club med T&C and it is nowhere near a luxury resort....i loved my trip but it was mediocre food and nothing special rooms. I think if you are going to Beaches it is less about a luxury room etc and more about the kids activities and convenience and that is the premium you are paying for...i would definitely check different dates i was looking into it and the rates varied greatly in some months - early feb and may were cheap and the other months were very expensive.
ETA: cheapest beaches price at t&C i saw was $310 pp/pn.

I went to the Atlantis with young kids and I would honestly hold off until your kids are no longer using strollers and are a bit older. It is not young child in stroller friendly at all. I wrote a review about my experiences there. It was so bad they ended up giving us our money back. I have never been to beaches t&c but I have heard nothing but positive things about it.

Are you flexible on dates - you are probably looking at one of the weeks kids are out of school - that is probably why it is so expensive. I know the Disney cruise I went on was less than 1k the week I went and was close to 5k the week the kids were out of school 2 weeks later.
I looked at going there but decided to wait bc DD was too young, but it was nowhere near that much. I think it was around $500 a night when I looked.
Yes, our dates are very flexible. I just realized both weeks I was looking into are indeed spring break weeks. I just wanted to go sooner than later and those were the most convenient times for our schedules.
DH makes his schedule about 3 months in advance. I will look into late April/early May.
I priced out our Disney cruise to be about $6k. I thought it was a bit expensive but I thought it was just the Disney premium. Good to know that it can be cheaper.

funny I just did a quote earlier tonight and my jaw dropped. It looks amazing, but not $10k amazing with airfare and a regular double room (not suite )
It is far from amazing. Don't believe the website pics. It was awful
Or maybe I am spoiled....
I would not say awful. I will say that i have been to a lot of nice places and top hotels and the food at Beaches tc was not anythig to write home about... It was okay.
I know there is a huge premium for the children's activities.
What level resort would it be wit
Ihout the children's activities?
It would still be good for adults nice pools and evening shows
Have you looked into ibrostar mexico in playa del carmen? They have 3 levels on the resort adult only and i know one is for kids too (not sure what the third section is). Really beautiful, amazing food. The adults only is beyond amazing and you can use all the other sections to eat, but not visa versa with kids.
All inclusive is the way to go!
Iberostar resorts look fantastic! I think one of our friends invited us to go to this resort 2 years ago. I had just given birth to DS#2 and was so sleep deprived that I did not look into it at all.
Thanks for the recommendation. They also have one in Punta Cana. I know I probably should not be worried but we prefer not to go to Mexico.

I've been to Atlantis twice. We stayed at Beach Tower I think. I always wanted to try out the nicer hotels at Atlantis.
I actually mentioned Atlantis to DH before the Disney cruise and he shot it down.

I can't give you any info on Beaches but another wonderful family resort is the Marco Island Marriott. It's great because you can fly southwest out of islip right to fort myers. It's on the gulf coast and the beach is absolutley beautiful-white sand, crystal water. The hotel itself is completely geared towards kids. it is not all inclusive but the food prices aren't terrible and most people stop at target or walmart and buy a bunch of food/snacks/drinks for the room. we had a blast there with a 1 and 3 year old and are going back again this year. the hotel isn't cheap (around $500 a night) but worth it. if you want anymore info, you can FM me.

I hear great things about it. Each year we consider it, but it turns out to be 8-9k trip! I don't see us doing that. For that amount of money, I'm going to Maui!
We have been to atlantis twice. It's also a 6-7 k trip. Not sure if we will go back

Thanks for the tip.
I am not getting anything close to $310/night but I am getting about $800 per night for late April. May is about $700 per night. Still expensive but this was what I was expecting.
Now I have to choose between Beaches T&C for late April/early May or one of the all inclusives in the Dominican Republic for late March/early April.

Beaches Turks is amazing. I have been twice, with 3 kids. It is very family oriented. It is $$ but worth it in my opinion.
I have also been to domincan republic and it doesnt compare!

Can you tell me more about this? Do they have a nice pool and planned activities? Are there off site activities nearby (mini golf, etc.)? Sorry to hijack, OP! We accumulate a lot of Marriott reward points, so I'm always looking for a good Marriott! Nevermind, I just looked it up. It looks nice, but probably not a place my kids would have fun. No pool slide and you have to pay for the kids activities.

Atlantis also has timeshares that you can rent. They are very nice and you get all the access to Atlantis plus the bonus of having a kitchen and bigger room. My friend owns one and it's really beautiful

I don't think I'd spend $1000-2000/night unless it was like am insane once in a lifetime European trip or something. I would also recommend the Atlantis. We went there last year with my entire family and all of the kids (ages 11 to 8m) had such a great time! It was pricier than most resorts, but no where near close to T&C.

Prices vary by season. We are going in April and rooms start at $500. it really is a great family resort. everyone there has kids so you never feel like your kids are being too loud. they have a sprinkler part to the kid pool and a slide. there are activities for kids every day. they have a camp that starts at age 5. they set up a big screen at least one night a week and a play a kid movie at the pool where you can watch from the lounge chairs or in the pool. there are sand castle contests and they set up rock climbing walls or trampolines on the beach (extra fee). it's easy because you feel like you are in the caribbean but you don't have the hassle of customs or passports and my favorite is flying out of islip. you can buy anything you need at a normal cost at target on the way to the hotel. we bought sand toys, pool floats, snacks, drinks, diapers (my youngest was one and i didn't want to waste room packing them). but i'm sure i'd love a lot of the other resorts mentioned.

Re: Is Beaches T&C worth $1000-2000 PER night????
I have been there 3 times (go off season in Oct for a much cheaper rate). We can no longer afford it b/c it has gotten much more pricey. However it was so worth it when my kids were tiny. My kids napped at the camp, the camp ladies were AMAZING. So much for kids to do from sesame street shows, cooking with cookie monster, water park...it was the best vacation I have ever had. We got upgraded the last 2 times to the italian village with the bunk bed rooms...so amazing. Since then we have gone to more reasonable hotels with kid clubs. And although they are nice and we have a good time, nothing beats Beaches. I am planning one last trip in 2 years for our 10 year anniversary and that will prob be it.

sorry for the repeat... We are headed to Dreams resort in Punta Cana in a few weeks...got a fab deal (Originally $4200, got $1990 for 8nts from expedia 1/2 off sale). I'll let you know how it goes. We went to Coconut Bay Resort in St Lucia last year..it was very kid friendly but def. very dated. Also did a Nicelodeon cruise out of NY - worst trip of my life. My kids were just too young so it made for a difficulty trip.

I agree. I expect to be pampered for that money.
We are still deciding what to do with this as well. It does seem like the most reasonable time is during the beginning to mid May.. Less crowds, after spring break, but before memorial day, summer vacation.
We also like nicer resorts and expect it if we are paying that much.
The thing about beaches, I think, is that there is no other place like it t that level, but it Is, after all, a vacation spot where the kids at catered to.
I also read about a place in st Bart,
Looks awesome. LE HOTEL GUANAHANI
Nothing at all like beaches, but supposedly kid friendly
