Is anyone's dh a SAHD or...
you make MUCH more than your dh?
My dh just got a job making alot less than myself but he will be able to watch the kids and save us a ton of money on care.

I wouldn't say much more....but without promotions my top salary is about $14,000 higher than his top salary.

I make much more. He doesn't "have" to work, but since he works for my dad and my mom watches DS, there's really no reason for him to not work.

Re: Is anyone's dh a SAHD or...
My DH was on sabbatical from last Sept. to January so he took care of DD. He loved it. He still takes care of her two days a week. It saves us about $400 a month; she is in daycare for the other three days. I also make a little more money than he does, but I like that he has the job he has because he gets lots of time with her.

Re: Is anyone's dh a SAHD or...
i make more than double my DH. We've discussed him staying home with DS. However, I think money would be too tight. Plus, especially now that he is a little older, I believe that DS is benefiting greatly from daycare in ways that I know DH couldn't provide. I couldn't imagine him doing playdates and going to the playground and stuff.

My husband is home all day with Ava and goes to work at night, so he's kind of a daytime SAHD.

My DH was a SAHD until DD was 17 months. I started working from home more, and DD wanted only me when we were both here. I put DD in daycare and she loves it. Now, DH still doesn't work and it's driving me crazy Oh, he has dreams of opening his own restaurant

If I worked f/t I would make about 15K more than DH. Initially DH like the idea of being a SAHD but I EBF DD for her first year of life and did not want to work f/t. After she was weaned I was more than willing to go back f/t but he then changed his tune. He likes children more when they are unable to escape from you.

Re: Is anyone's dh a SAHD or...
I make more than my boyfriend but he is still working (as am I). My mom watches the baby everyday for us so we are lucky in that sense. If for some reason things change, my boyfriend would be a SAHD and I would have no problem with that - and neither would he! He is a mechanic so he cam do jobs on the side to bring in money for himself.

Re: Is anyone's dh a SAHD or...
DH is kind of a SAHD, he makes about 4x more then me, but he works for 3 weeks straight at a time and then is home for 3 weeks straight.
Lets just say Daddys do things a LOT differently then Mommys
-My 14 month old scarfs down twizzlers all day long, i don't know how she chews them, but she manages.
-after breakfast, her highchair tray is left out for the next 3 hours so that she can "graze"
- dirty diapers are left where they are taken off, never seem to make it to the garbage, cups and dishes never make it to the sink either.
-the tv is on all day long

Re: Is anyone's dh a SAHD or...
DH stayed home with Andrew from 3 to 11 months of age. It obviously helped out financially a lot, but it was a good bonding experience for the two of them.
His job is 100% commission so he's a lot more flexible than I am. He doesn't watch Hannah (my mom does) b/c I'll just politely say I didn't think Andrew was cared for in the best way when DH was in charge.
