is anyone else dispaced with a baby?

Ds is 6 months old and it will be a minimum of 3 months until we can move home. We have been bouncing around since sandy and will be moving into a temp apt this weekend. We were sleep training beforew sandy bc he still sleeps swaddled and in rnp and were doing a little bit of cio in his crib. We were getting a bit of a schedule finally too. And now that's all gone. If u have been displaced how are you coping and how is it affecting having a little baby? Sometimes I feel so sad. We lost a lot of belongings and a lot of his toys and swings etc and I feel sad we can't have our first holidays as a family together at our home kwim? I have been terying to keep it together and maybe bc I am pmsing but I am just feeling so done. We finally get to have our baby then months and months of colic and tears and then we lose our home. I am sooo grateful to have friends and family to give us a roof over our heads the last couple weeks but I just want me and dh and little baby to be home and to be able to fully enjoy these early moments in little babys life. So if anyone else has been displaced with a baby I would love to hear ur story or any tips on making things better for him. Tia!!!! Xoxo

Re: is anyone else dispaced with a baby?

Im sorry to hear this, I am in a similar situation. Our house is destroyed. Our house was on a slab, and we had 3 feet of water in our entire living space. Our daughter is 8 months old. Our house is currently gutted completely. My husband had to go throw everything out, bc I couldnt emotionally do it. ITs soo awful, I dont even care about my own things.. the baby stuff KILLED me. Her entire room was on the curb, I was crushed. Brand new furniture, clothes, toys ect.

We are currently living with our inlaws... my husband works for Verizon, so hes working 12 + hr days. My inlaws just got power so for a week and a half i was hopping between friends houses. My daughter went from sleeping 12 hours straight a night, to waking up every 2 hours screaming her head off. I hate it. We just went and ordered a new crib so we can try and get back on SOME sort of schedule. She HATES her pack n play!

I hope you are able to settle in soon, and your "renovations" go smoothly!

Im sooo sorry you have to go through this. What a tough situation to be in. You and your husband are so strong and your son will see as he grows what amazing parents he has. Hopefully when you are settled in a routine will start to happen. Please let m know if you need anything. Prayers that things go fast and smoothly.

I'm so sorry for you both. We were displaced for just a week & a half, but during that time DS went from 11hours a night straight to waking every few hours & twice had night terrors. The good news, which I hope is the same for you even after a longer period of time, is that he went right back to his great sleeping once we were back home. Seemed like he was just confused & disoriented away from home. I will hope & pray for you that your homes are rebuilt quickly & you can go back home. I know it's upsetting w the holidays but you'll still have a wonderful time celebrating your LO's 1st, & next year it'll be like another 1st in your home. Good luck & much love to you!! xoxo

I'm so sorry for all the mommies dealing with this. I give you all a lot of credit for pulling yourselves together to do what you need to do. Jenn--do you need a swing for the baby? Let me know, you can have ours. It's the FP little lamb one.
