Is anyone an OT Assistant?
Im thinking about a career change and was looking into OT assistant.....does anyone do this? How do you like it, do you find it rewarding, how are the weekly hours, how is the job market here on LI, how is the pay in NY?
From my understand, I need an Associates to do this and then to be certified? I currently already have a BA, but its in Advertising.
Thanks!

Re: Is anyone an OT Assistant?
I'm an OTR/L, occupational therapy is an awesome profession and I LOVE it. I work in pediatrics (public school setting). To be a COTA it's an associates degree and you have to pass a national certification exam. You do pretty much everything an OTR/L does, but and OTR/L must supervise you (occasional visits, doesn't have to be on site). I'm pretty sure an OTR/L must co-sign any evaluations you do also. Salary ranges by practice area (pediatric, geriatric, physical disabily, mental health).
