I know this was excessive... but
"The News of the World said the alleged attack by eight soldiers, which followed a scene showing youths throwing stones at the soldiers, was videotaped in southern Iraq in early 2004."
The soldiers were wrong- their defense was excessive, but they were ATTACKED first. We aren't talking about a bunch of soliders who went out looking for kids to beat.

It's not all that shocking to me...I know the diplomatic thing to do in their case is turn the other cheek, but seriously...I don't agree with it but I can see where they are coming from.

I think that saying it was excessive is an understatement. I know that under their circumstances they must be on high alert at all times, but as soon as it was revealed who and what was going on it should have ended. Instead they took the opportunity to have some fun. It sickens me.
