IPOD for a 5 year old or something else?

The word boombox sounds so 80's to me but still I am trying to figure out if its a better option for my 5 year old ( nearly 6 year old) or should I get an IPOD.

She loves music and she loves barbie. There is a cute barbie boombox on amazon for $35 that I think she would like but I am always thinking of an IPOD.

The thing thats putting me off an IPOD is that I would have to download music for her instead of just getting her some books on cd and music and off she goes.

What do your kids use to listen to music?

most elementary school kids want an iPod touch, at least the ones I've worked with. i think you will get more use out of it than a boombox and there are fabulous apps out there that are educational (check out Moms with Apps and Best Apps for Kids to start off). yes, you'll have to manage it, but you'll be picking up CDs and putting them away and you'll have to order/burn them for her if you get the cd player.

Get her an iTouch and docking station..

That's what my kids have and it's the best thing EVER!

Thanks but an ITOUCH is $150 right!!!! She has already gotten a pile of stuff so I was just wiling to spend $50 or so.....

I am getting the kindle fire for Xmas...is there any kids apps I can download on that do you think?

What is the difference between the ITouch and the Kindle Fire?

I guess if I am too mean to buy her an ITouch I should just get an IPOd and then she is getitng something with an I in it than an 80's boombox

I don't even have an IPod Touch.
