Iphone in the UK
The Iphone was launched in the UK tonight at 6.02 pm. And the clincher is that the phone costs £269 ($525) and you have to sign up for an 18 month contract for at least £35 a month ($70) So that alone sets you back about £800 ($1600) for the phone. Is this an insane amount of money or what??
Whats the story in the states with this?
Oh, did I mention that I want one sooo badly. However after a terrible experience with an Ipod I swore never to buy another Apple product. And I am going to stand by that.

Re: Iphone in the UK
It was my anniversary gift a few weeks ago, and I freakin' LOVE IT.
I think it went on the market here for $500 but it's now selling for $400? I could be wrong.

Re: Iphone in the UK
I believe they lowered the price here after a month, and a lot of people were mad.
I've seen one, not worth the hype for me.

Re: Iphone in the UK
Went on the market here for $499 (4GB) and $599 (8GB)
Price dropped to $399 (8GB) and they got rid of the 4GB soon after launch.
They offered all early adopters a $100 credit if they purchased before the drop because of the backlash.
Contract is two-years with AT&T which depending on the plan comes to about $70 or so a month.

Re: Iphone in the UK
i got one at the beginnng and paid the ridiculous 599 price. after two days my phone froze and i spent 2 hours at the apple store trying to get someone to help me. then i got a new phone and it freezes often. never dropped it. but it reacts slowly. then they dropped the price and only given 100 refund instead of the 200 refund some people got. think its over prices and not worth it in my opinion.

Re: Iphone in the UK
Do they have it over there so you don't have to pay for the phone but the price of the phone is in the monthly payments?
Down here you buy a phone, sign up for a contract of $40 AUD (like £20) and you have to stay on the contract for 6 months. At the end of the months you have the option of buying the phone for like a quarter of the price. I have that option, but I don't have an Iphone (they dont have it here and I have another phone with an MP3 player.

We have better deals in the UK than you guys in the states do. I have a contract with O2, I pay something like £30 a month with a free top of the line phone, and every May, when I renew my contract I get a brand new top of the line phone (except for an Iphone obviously) So every May I get an awesome new phone!!!
