Has anyone used invisalign to fix any gaps? What was your experience (both positive and negative)? How much did you pay? Any recommendations?

FM if you prefer. Thanks in advance!

I did it the year before I got married.

If i'm being totally honest, I only wore them at night. I work in sales and I talk ALL day and I had a lisp when I wore the trays, lol. The only issue I had was that it made my teeth and gums very sensitive. I didn't have really crooked teeth, I had one on the bottom that I used to call the backseat tooth because it got smushed when my wisdoms came thru and it always bothered me so I wanted to fix it. Mind you, I also had braces for 5 YEARS as a kid!

Anyway, i'm really happy with the results! It totally fixed my teeth and they're straight again. I don't wear the trays anymore and I had a permanent retainer put in to make them not move. Its not great for flossing but can't win em all.

I think I paid $3500.

I just went for a consultation. I never had braces as a kid and always had really straight teeth but now they are moving and being pushed inwards at the front and I'm getting very self-conscious of my smile. I was quoted between $4,000 and $5,000 by my dentist who recently got certified in Invisalign. I think I'm going to wait until the new year so that I can put it on my flexben.

ETA: My dentist advised that I would have to wear them 23 hours a day other than when I eat and that it will probably take 18 months to correct my teeth.

Re: Invisalign

I did it last year. My problem wasn't gaps, but severe crowding of my lower teeth in the front and my two front teeth were pretty much buck teeth.

Overall, the process took about a year for me. While my teeth were "straightened", they did not correct the issue that some teeth were "taller" than others and I finished not really happy that I still didn't have the perfect smile.

When I finished treatment, I was told I only had to wear the retainers for bedtime. So I did. But in the morning, within hours of taking them out for the day, one tooth on the bottom would always turn. Yes, that quickly!

My retainers for night time wearing, well, let's say that I went a few nights in a row not wearing them (I was pregnant and when I had the baby, I didn't wear them again for a few day) and my retainers now do not even come close to fitting properly (that's how much my teeth turned back).

I haven't been to the dentist yet (I'm almost afraid to go and be yelled at, LOL!), but will go soon. Not sure how things will proceed since I paid for it all already and my treatment ended last summer.

Not a positive review from me. I think that the crowding of my teeth, coupled by the fact I have implants and bridges and couldn't shift all my teeth to uncrowd, played a big role. I'll post a follow-up if I ever get back to my dentist.

Re: Invisalign

My teeth were so crooked. I hated them. I have invisalign now & I wish I had before & afters to show you. It's INCREDIBLE. My bottom teeth are now almost perfectly straight. It was supposed to take abo0ut 18 months, it's gonna be a little over 2 years now, but that's more because of a genetic issue with my top teeth making 2 of them very hard to straighten out. Honestly, I have no complaints. I got used to them very quickly, there's very little discomfort, my speech has not changed at all. I paid ab0out $3000.
