Into the Wild

I didn't know how this movie was going to end (I didn't read the book and knew very little of the story.)

I have to say I'm so disappointed! I know it's a true story and the end is the end...but it seems like such a waste...

Kind of depressing actually.

Anyone else see this movie?

I read the book...

much more emotion.. you should read the book, it may help you appreciate the movie... Unless the movie was SOOOOOOOOOOO off the story then it would piss you off that they didn't do the book justice.

I read the synopsis on IMDB (after I watched the movie) and whoever wrote it said that Sean Penn left alot out and that there's another movie version that tells the story better.

I'm definitely going to read the book.

I just feel like he made everyone sad for no reason. I mean- his parents sucked- but is that a reason to torture them with fear? And why do it to his sister- who he had a really close relationship with?

After the movie- I understand and respect his reasoning, but can't help feeling he was a bit selfish (besides the whole donation thing-lol).

Re: Into the Wild

I haven't seen the movie, but if you feel like he had no reason for doing what he did you should read the book.

He just was who he was, but you have to understand him fully to see that he wasn't just some jerk who wanted to prove that he could survive in the wilderness of Alaska. He was actually a really good kid with a big heart, but he was the kind of person, who wanted to prove to himself that he could do these things on his own.

I loved the book, def. recommend it.
