Interviewing your pediatrician

Did you do this yet?

I don't even know where to start, I have a list of a couple of recommendations, but I have no idea what I need to ask them

Re: Interviewing your pediatrician

I'm going to see one on Monday. She's the wife of a co-worker, so that made it easy Chat Icon

But she gave me a list of things to ask other pediatricians if I should decide to interview anyone else. This is what she said:

"In choosing a doctor, I would recommend setting up a prenatal appointment to get a "feel" for the doctors and their offices. Is that doctor friendly? Is the staff friendly? Does he listen to my questions and concerns? What do I do at 2 am on a Sunday night?
How long does it usually take to return phone calls?
How busy is your practice? Who will see my child in the hospital should he need to be admitted? Questions like "what do you think of breastfeeding?" isn't very helpful since everyone will say "breast is best."

Re: Interviewing your pediatrician

If you go to Yahoo and type in Pediatrician and pregnancy it gives you a bunch of websites with questions. A few are:

Are they Board Certified?
What Hospitals are they affiliated with?
What are their hours?
What are their call back procedures?
Do they have a "sick" waiting room and a well waiting room?
How many doctors in the practice?
What is their schedule for visits for your baby? Does it matter that you are BF - if you choose to??
