Re: Internals
Maybe at 36 weeks. They check your cervix. Not the most comfortable.

I THINK my doctor said 36. I hope he didn't say 34 since I'm 34 today and have an appt tomorrow. It's basically the dr reaching up there to see if your cervix is open. I had it done a couple of weeks ago in l&d when I was there for some possible complications and while it wasn't the worst thing in the world it also wasn't the most fun either.

At my practice @ 36 weeks Dr does swab for Strep B. Cervical exams start @ 37 but they are NOT medically necessary so if you dont want them say so. I declined them until my 40 week check up (I still may not do it). For me they create false hopes & A LOT of anxiety. So I'm just waiting for things to just happen. They can be very painful..lady parts are super sensitive.

This but I didn't decline them. Mine actually don't hurt so I was pleasantly surprised. It's exciting getting them to see if I have made any progress.

Usually around 36 weeks; could be sooner if you have a history of preterm deliveries.

Re: Internals
Mine started 36 weeks. Hate them but I guess nice to see if anything started. I declined the last one because its 3 days before my scheduled section. My doc basically checked with fingers to see if my cervix was soft, shortened and dialated.

Internals
Mine started at 36 weeks. She checked to see if the cervix was soft, if I was dilated, and if the cervix was shortening. The first one wasn't as bad but as my pressure gets more intense is when it really started to hurt. I described the experience to my cousin as it feels like she is going in my vag to scratch my nose!

Re: Internals
Internals start at 36 weeks. They aren't comfortable but they are nothing compared to the contractions you'll experience in a few weeks! Ha. But seriously, they last a few seconds and are done. No biggie!

Internals
Mine started at 36 weeks. I didn't experience any pain with mine either. This could be because I was never really dilated (only got to maybe 2cm and even that was stretching it) and DS was way up there even at 40 weeks.

Re: Internals
my practice didnt do them til 38 weeks. i was glad bc it was discouraging to hear no progress at 38 weeks, still no progress at 39 weeks and still no progress at 40 weeks...dd arrived before my 41 week appt thankfully
but in terms of pain - its just uncomfortable and doesnt last long.
