When does the doctor start doing these? I have to go back in 2 weeks for a 34 week test and then I am guessing I will be seeing the doctor every 2 weeks?

My ob starts them at 36 weeks but they will do them sooner if there are ohter issues.

Mine started at 37 weeks. The 1st and 3rd time didnt really hurt at all...the second one hurt for some reason.

effacement (cervix thinning)
position of cervix (high or low)
softening of cervix
if baby is head down
Station (position of baby -2 for example means the baby is still high up...I think it goes from -10 to +10).

In all honestly, the internals dont mean anything. Some doctors dont do them, and you can request not to.
You could be 3 cm dilated for 3 weeks, and you can not be dilated at all and go into labor that night. So really doesn't mean much!!
