This was also the topic of conversation on WBAB this morning. Although I think that people who allow 25 people to live in a 4 BR houses should pay more taxes, does this mean that a new owner, if the house is sold, have to go through the burden of re-classifying it as a single-family residence top avoid paying $30K dollars annually in taxes? Not sure if this is a good solution, it seems to *permanent*

I dont see it as a good idea either - I did remember seeing a house on mlsli in east meadow a few months ago with $22k taxes...It was a wideline cape

wasn't that an attorney's office? hence the commercial taxes?
I think new owners would be able to grieve it within a year and it's something the sellers have to face before they sell than - or the buyer's accept the taxes going into contract
I think it's a great idea - if they are family - I could see the argument for a period of time, but they are taking advantage illegal immigrants and putting the burden on the school district to educate the influx of students. It costs about $12K to educate ONE student per year on LI. How many school aged kids are living in that one house and paying $4K in taxes?

the article says they are given a year warning.
i think its a great idea- maybe it will stop the illegal apartments.

This article was very interesting, maybe it will help with some of the illegal apartments. Those people in the article are making living situations very dangerous.... Most seem to be reported by the fire department...

I think its great they arent going after the person with a illegal apt who is renting it to one person
Its for the animals that rent there hoouse to 20 people or more
I think its disgusting, its unfair to the neighbors, parking sucks, garbage is excessive. Property value is afffected
