Interacting with your 7 month/8 month old?

My DD is 7 months old. She can sit up on her own but isnt crawling yet. How often are you playing/interacting one on one with your child? I have toys we play on the floor but after awhile there is only so much I can sing, or read or relay shapes, colors, numbers etc.. but then I feel kinda bad if I just put her in the jumper or exersauer..

At that age I also used to put him in his high chair and cook or do other kitchen stuff while talking to him. I used to just give him a play by play of what I was doing or sing him songs. He loved it.

Honestly, with a 6 year old ...not much.... I talk to him as I go through my day but I rarely sit on the floor and play with him. I don't think I did with my older son either. But my little guy is pulling himself to standing and army crawling all over so he gets himself into trouble a lot. Plus his big brother is always in his face.

On the floor w/ her toys - maybe 15-30 mins a day. But she'll sit on the couch with us and we'll play with a toy, sing, talk, watch tv, and cuddle.

I'm with her a lot on the floor... she is 8 months and now HATES her exersaucer (from the inside only--she loves pulling herself up on the side of it.). She is also not thrilled with the jumperoo too much either.. I have nothing to put her in that will keep her safe so I can go to the bathroom or something. She is not crawling but she can sort of roll and manages to get herself where she wants to go... All she wants to do is stand!

I was part of a mothers group when my first was a baby and the woman who ran the group (she was seriously a baby whisperer, lol) said this to me when I asked the same question and it stuck with me "you dont need to always be interacting and "playing" with them. Remember, the ENTIRE WORLD is new to them so sitting in their exersaucer or bouncy seat just looking out, may seem boring and unstimulating to you, but to a baby, they are taking their new world in."

Im not saying leave your baby in their seat and they will figure it out, Im just saying, dont feel like you need to entertain them every second and thats ok.

Unfortunatly I do not interact with my 8 month old as often as I would like because I also have an attention seeking 3 year old. I do try to talk to her, sing to her, dance with her sometimes, and read to her before bed. BUt mostly, I provide toys for her to play with and she is always in the room with us and we try to include her in our conversation, activities etc,. Honestly, half the time I do try to interact with her one on one she wants to do her own thing anyway.

At that age my ds was on the move so he was into everything and I just made sure he wasn't getting into trouble.

I do spend a lot of time 1:1 with my 6.5 month old. But I work full time and I feel like I should spend any moment I'm not working or doing his laundry with him. It's a constant feeling of guilt I guess. But he's also starting to move more and we have a dog so I have to make sure everyone is staying out of trouble.

The guilt kills me! I try to spend as much time with her as possible but some days it's just not much. I let her independent play (9 months) and get stuff done but take lots of breaks to get on the floor and play with her.
