Inspector ?

Okay, so we hired the inspector and they suggested we go to the inspection...just wondering if there are any questions I should ask and if, when there are problems...we should use that to barter the price down more.

I am very confused on this cuz I don't know anyone who hired an inspector before they bought their house.

Re: Inspector ?

Just be sure he checks everthing out in detail...roof, heating/cooling, bathrooms, appliances, structure that is visable, etc. Ask questions as you go along. He should give you a detailed report. It is usually easier if your inspector does the termite inspection too (if licensed).

Our inspector did a great job, but the one for the buyer of our home was terrible! He was only here for 30 minutes and didn't even turn on an appliance or the water!

Good luck with it! You can bring the report back to your lawyer should there be a need to renegotiate or ask for something to be repaired/be reimbursed for.

We used Heimer. Our lawyer recommended them. They were very thorough. We got a copy of the report as well as had one sent to our lawyer.

Re: Inspector ?

The inspector we used was not that great to say the least! They said everything looked great for the most part. Some little things here and there but nothing major. Well, right after we moved in we had a badly flooded basement with the first rain, termites(they did the inspection for that too. ) It's been one thing after another since we moved in. Maybe it was just the particular inspector we had. They had a really good reputation but I feel it was just a real waste of money for us anyway.
