Insomnia...?

The past few nights I have woken at 3am to pee. Then I can't get back to sleep until about 6am, and sleep til 8am. The whole day I am just dragging. Is this normal, and will it continue throughout the pregnancy? I am thinking about taking a Tylenol PM tonight just to get one good night's sleep...

Re: Insomnia...?

It's completely normal. I go to bed so early that when I wake up to pee I have a hard time falling back asleep too. I tihnk it's our bodys way of preparing us for those mid night feedings, lol. I would NOT take tylenol PM or anything though. Sorry this is happening. Chat Icon

I heard that you CAN take tylenol PM. I would ask the DR ( and please report back!)

Re: Insomnia...?

I had the same thing last couple of weeks. By Friday everyone at work was asking if I was okay because I looked like a zombie.

(Damn ELF concealer doesn't do jack!!)

I'm still having it a little. The most frustrating thing is that from 1:00pm to 6:00pm I could literally sleep standing up.

Then I get a 2nd wind and get tired at night, but can't sleep. Or can't stay asleep.

Only things that have been helping is cutting back on liquids after 8:00 so I don't have quite the urge to pee, NOT napping during the day, no matter how much I want to.

Re: Insomnia...?

I have it as well.... I am exhausted around 9:30pm-11:30pm... then I go to sleep, wake up between 3:30-4:00 and am on and off up until about 7am... then fall back asleep until 9:00... (fortunately I'm not working!)

Re: Insomnia...?

Oh, and I told my acupuncturist and he did a couple needles in my neck to help promote "restful sleep". It seemed to help a little.

I don't know if you are still doing acu, but if you are, you can ask.

Since becoming pg, my sleep habits have changed several times, including bouts with insomnia. Hopefully, the phase will pass soon.

Re: Insomnia...?

I dont have insomnia- but I've been getting up 3 times a night the past few nights to pee. When that happens, I feel like I could stay awake, but I eventually fall back asleep.

Same here. Though last night I managed to sleep through the night...my secret? I didn't drink anything for 2 hours before I went to bed. Of course, I woke up this morning feeling parched, so I suppose there's no perfect solution.

Well, thats another thing- I had to drink some water every time I got up because I was sooooo thirsty!! So, I'm sure that probably contributes to having to get up again.

Re: Insomnia...?

It's frustrating....but I know, worth it. I have never been a good sleeper before anyway.

SO if I post on here at 4am, I may get some replies, and you won't all think I am insane??? Chat Icon Chat Icon
