insight needed-late O'er

Hey girls

So I asked the np today why I o so late. (cd 23 this month). I asked if it's a problem. She said, its not a problem they are concerned with yet. (???)
So of course I look it up when I get home and Im finidng things about quality of eggs not being good, age being a factor (Im only 29), etc.

So my question is 2 part:
is it a concern?
Is there anything I can do to O earlier? At this rate, I only have 10 chances every year because it puts me at a 35 day cycle :(

As always, TIA!

Well, it is and it isn't. My cycle has always been long and I O late naturally, as well. But the cycle I conceived DS, I O'd around day 48!!! And he is a beautiful happy healthy boy.

The problem is, when you O that late, your cycle is longer--I'm guessing yours is about 37 days? And that means fewer cycles a year, which means fewer chances to conceive. But it's not impossible!

My RE put me on clomid to O more regularly and shorten my cycles. On the TTC board, there were all kinds of crazy things suggested that I've tried, including red raspberry leaf tea and sleeping with a 100 watt light next to you for 5 nights in the middle of your cycle! I thought the light thing worked one cycle, but who knows for sure?! Maybe you could try clomid?

Good luck and HTH!

Thanks.. Ill def consider trying it. you're right.. my cycle has been about 34-35 days... I understand I have less chances per year but is there a reason its happening? I did read something about improving diet to help. I guess I could cut out some things like diet soft drinks/processed foods. Im otherwise perfectly healthy, just dont know why I O so late.

From what I remember, cycle lengths between 23 and 40 days are considered "normal." A 28-day cycle is pretty rare; most women are a little shorter or a little longer. Don't worry too much about anything on the Internet. 29 is a great age, and you're ovulating every cycle. I think you're okay.

My cycles are very long and and irregular. I have been taking vitex and getting acupunture and since I started I have O at CD17 both times which is a record. If your body is taking so long to O its not creating the best environment for implantation. Also, it takes longer because your cycles are so long. Good luck!
