insert for cribs

I was just curious, if I was to not use a bassinet or cradle and went right for the crib, is there an insert that goes in there so the baby is more confined to a smaller area, instead of the big crib?

I'm going to try swaddling with the Miracle Blanket I got from BuyBuyBaby.

I thought I read that you shouldn't put any kind of insert in the crib?
