Injectables - Bravelle and Menopur

Looks like we're going to be doing an IUI cycle with injectables and I was curious if anyone can share with me what to expect. I've only done Clomid IUI cycles so I am not sure what I am in for with the injectables.

Side effects?
Tips for administering?
Any needle pain?

Any info or advice is appreciated! Thank you!! Chat Icon

The only injectable that I have experience with is Gonal-F and I *think* it is the same as Bravelle (just different brands). Correct me if I'm wrong, ladies!

The needles were very small, so I didn't have any pain while doing them, but the area would get sore. I injected in my thighs. I used to just rub some ice on the injection site and then swab with alcohol before and after. The only side effect that I really had was bloating and my boobs hurt as if AF was on her way.

GOOD LUCK! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Injectables - Bravelle and Menopur

I used Menopur for my IVF cycle and I found that if I injected too quickly that it would burn so I would go very slow injecting into my belly. As soon as the injection was finished it would stop burning. I think I read on a board that you had GD when you were pregnant and were on insulin, if that's the case it's pretty much the same.. The needle is a little bigger, but I did both as well and found it similar. I think it'll be a breeze for you!

I agree with the OP, inject slowly-not to slowly- with the Menopur. I iced before and after and never had too much bruising.

Yes, I did have GD. Hoping that was good prep for the injectables. Chat Icon
