Infrequent bowel movements..?!?!?

that's what my ped is calling it not constipation. I feel horrible for him bc the last 3 days he won't go to the bathroom unless he's stimulated. The poor thing is pushing and NOTHING is happening and he just starts screaming. He'll be 1 month tomorrow.

Does anyone have any suggestions that might make him feel better. I was told not to change his formula just stimulate him with a thermometer or 1/2 a glycerin suppository. Thermometer has worked a little, suppositories didn't. Help! Chat Icon

Kristin, ask your dr if you can put a little prune juice in his bottles of formula, my sister use to do that with Alexa's bottles when she was a baby, and it really worked!

I'm gonna call him and see if I can do either one of these. I'm nervous to just give either of these to him being he's still so young (paranoid new mom lol) Thank you for the suggestions though, its so hard to see him and think he's in pain Chat Icon

I always found that a 2 oz bottle of water boiled with a tsp of sugar did the trick....all of my girls were like this...

Re: Infrequent bowel movements..?!?!?

I was just about to post this same question! My ped told me to use 1oz of water twice a day. I feel so bad bc ds is really pushing and nothing comes out...well sometimes some gas. I have to stim him with a suppository in order for him to poop and he is really working way too hard. I am afraid i am going to hurt him if i keep having to do this. oh yeah and he pushed so hard he spits up! Chat Icon

Dom used to get like this, and my dr said to give him water.
He never really liked it though.
