infertility grads - wwyd?

ok so i was supposed to have my last dr. B appt this past week (9w). but i wasnt able to get into the ob until 12/20, so dr. B said to come back one more time. im away the rest of this week so im going back saturday 12/13 (11w).

meanwhile today the ob calls and said they had an opening at a time i can live with on 12/6!! so of course i took the appt!!

anyway im debating whether to email dr. B and tell him and ask if i should keep my appt. i Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon dr. B and i really dont want to leave him, but i know it means im on the right track to a healthy Chat Icon . but meanwhile he hasnt gone over all my meds and what not so i would like to do that before i leave his care, just so i know what i need to discuss with my ob.

so do i just go to both the ob on 12/6 and dr. B on 12/13? or should i email dr. B and ask and risk him saying that i dont need to go back to him now that i have the earlier OB appt? i dont want to waste his time, but i do have some open ended things with meds and intralipids.

honest opinions please!!

Why don't you wait until your appointment on the 6th and then make a decision about whether to email him or not about whether he still want you to come in on the 13th?

I'm so excited for you!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Not an infertility grad, but go to both!! I would have loved even just one more opportunity to see the little bean in the beginning, it calmed my nerves every time. As long as your insurance doesn't have an issue with it, I would totally do it!

Re: infertility grads - wwyd?

If you don't want him to tell you not to come, don't email him and ask if you should still be coming. What would the point be?

I'm sure he would tell you to come anyway... but then what's the point of emailing at all?

Go to your appointment as scheduled and tie up loose ends with your meds questions, etc.

Re: infertility grads - wwyd?

I'd go to both to hear about meds, check your ovaries one last time to make sure they went completely down. I am going to mine one more time, even though I've been to my ob once already. It never hurts to have an extra set of eyes on you.
P.S. Did you pick your perinatal yet?

I'd say make sure your insurance will cover both appointments. If the ob appt is first there is a chance they may not cover the RE because you have already officially switched.

Is there any way that you'd be able to see Dr. B again before your OB appt on 12/6? I would try and do that if you can. That way you can wrap everything up and you will be able to move on to your OB and never look back!

I agree. Try to get into Dr B before your OB (if you can) or maybe keep your later appt with the OB. I don't think you should see your OB without knowing what Dr B recommends for your future med protocol. For example, I had my last appt with him and then saw my OB a week later and I was able to have certain paperwork transferred over explaining why I'm on Lovenox and why I should continue to be on it. I'd hate for your OB not to be prepared with your history. kwim?

Keep both. I made sure I had crossover...one last Dr. B after my initial OB appt. Turns out I HATED the OB's office so had to find a new one. It was nice to have that last Dr. B appt just to check on the baby again and get some peace of mind before moving on. Also, you will have med questions for him, I'm sure! Good Luck!

This is what I was going to suggest as well. However, I really don't think it's a big deal to keep both appointments. I know how much you love Dr. B and from what I hear about him, I can't see him feeling "put out" by one last appointment with you. Especially since you have a few loose ends to tie up.

ITA ....

My RE sent me away with some ppwk, that my OB needed regarding my IVF cycle, what previous sonos were done etc...If possible I would either try to squeeze in with the RE before that OB appt, or push off the OB appt until you have all your ducks in a row..You may want to say good-bye to the RE for "closure "( at least thats how I was ) so for me personally, I would not cx with him all together Chat Icon

Re: infertility grads - wwyd?

thanks ladies.
its impossible for me to go to dr. B before the OB appt. im away until 12/5 and the appointment with the OB is immediately after work (actually i have to leave early) on 12/6.

i guess i will just keep both appointments, i just didnt know if it was OK to overlap the two doctors and i dont want to waste dr. B's time since i think he may have released me if he knew my appt was sooner.

then again (for those of you that know dr. B Chat Icon ) he was REALLY sketchy about the last appt anyway. i went last week with cupcakes for him and i said "i brought these cause i thought it was my last appt" and he said "why would you think that?" and i said "Cause thats what you said last week!" Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon and he was like no come back one more time. and then i was asking Judy about the meds and she said at the last appt he will give me paperwork or a plan or at least tell me what i need to do with all of them. and he didnt look prepared to do that AT ALL at my 9w... so i guess i'll just keep the appt and tell him that i was able to get into the OB earlier.
