Infants, Formula, Pooping and Gas
My 4 month old DC was EBF for the first 2 months. I then supplemented with Enfamil Newborn and then switched entirely to Enfamil Infant at 3 months. Since being on the most recent formula she poops every other day and it's almost always a huge explosion. My husband thinks the poops look watery but I'm not overly concerned about their appearance. She is also extremely uncomfortable at times and pretty much screamed the entire day yesterday until I gave her Mylicon drops. I feel like this formula is too heavy for her. We have our 4 month well visit next week. Should I 1. Bring a poppy diaper to iron out any issues and 2. Wait to see what the pediatrician says before changing formula? Has anyone experienced anything like this and could offer some insight? Thanks! I hate seeing her so uncomfortable.

Re: Infants, Formula, Pooping and Gas
For us, the best thing was switching our son to Similac Sensitive for Fussiness and Gas. He had been on Similac since day one but I think Enfamil makes their own version of this -- Gentelesse?? If I remember right from the ped.
That made a huge difference immediately. It was a Godsend. The Ped recommended.
Each baby is different but our son also couldn't tolerate the powder formula - liquid only.
Then, we started him on a probiotic made by Culterelle. You can google it -- they normally come in pill form but clearly an infant can't have that. So, just google powder pack Culterelle probiotic and you will find them. Some pharmacies do carry them. They come in single-serve packs and you just add on single-serve pack to a bottle, doesn't matter which, once daily. It keeps him super regular. We have had him on it since around three months when his gas issues really got bad. Ped recommended that as well.
That and the gas drops - simethicone... all of that combined and he was the happiest baby :)

We had the same issue with DD when she was that age. We switched from similac advance to enfamil gent lease and she was much happier. Periodically we had to add 1/2oz of prune juice to the bottle when she was agitated as our ped recommended.
You can switch before the peds visit to see if you notice a change. If not, it's something to discuss with the Dr.

I would call up the ped and ask about Switching to enfamil gentlease. They can likely give up advice over the phone. No need to bring in a poopy diaper...
