Infant Antibiotic?
If your baby took an antibiotic, which one did they take? LO was prescribed an antibiotic and I'm not crazy about the side effects. Dr doesn't think she is infected, but said it "might" help her eczema when I asked if I could try anything besides more steroids. I am looking for a safer one to ask Dr about, but I' m not sure what to ask for. Also, Did you use probiotics at the same time?

Re: Infant Antibiotic?
I was given a topical antibiotic for infected eczema. The doctor did say that if it didn't work she'd need a oral one, but that he'd rather do topical first - as would I. If it's not infected it probably won't help though. I've seen many doctors for my infant, she has extremely severe eczema, and steroid creams are really all that works for her, as much as I hate using them. We do use probiotics, I don't know if it helps, but it certainly doesn't hurt!
Good luck!

There is no way an antibiotic will help ezcema! IF the ezcema is infected then yes it could help but an antibiotic cream. It seems you're talking about an oral antibiotic which IMO I would never give an infant unless it was serious.
My dd has been battling ezcema and I've done tons of research on it and the cause. Basically ezcema is your body's response to something. With some people it's an allergin like laundry detergent or soap (I use trader joes detergent and earth mama angel baby shampoo as a body soap too). For my dd i introduced a probiotic. Then I doubled the amount and that has started to work well. A lot of babies, kids, adults need probiotics to help leaky gut. And some children are born with leaky gut. Also broth soup helps a lot too bc the gelatin will help heal the stomach. Also removing inflammatory foods like wheat, dairy and corn can help a lot.
And finally I made my dd a special lotion of shea butter, cocoa butter, sweet almond oil, coconut oil, lavender and tea tree essential oils and that helps lesson the dry patches when it is bad in the winter.
Eta - when she was first Rx w two types of ezcema I was given a steroid cream and it clear up the spots. Once I stopped using they all came back. And when I tried again it didn't work at all. That's what lead me to do research on my own.
